At least to me.You may or may not be familiar with Mr. Beattie. He is currently a public speaker, author, and advocate of transgender and sexuality issues, with a focus on transgender fertility and reproductive rights.
However, Mr. Beattie first came into the limelight way back in 2008 when he became the first trans* man to become pregnant and carry to term the couples' first child, a daughter. Over the next 2 years, he would give birth to another 2 children, both boys. In 2010, Thomas Beattie he was named "Guiness Book of World Records - World's First Married Man to Give Birth". In 2012, Mr. Beattie and his wife, Nancy, would finally receive their final divorce decree after a long, hard and bittersweet court battle; setting legal precedence in Arizona for gender identity and marriages involving transgender partners. Also, 2012 is the year he would finalize his transition by having 'lower surgery'. Four years later (2016), he would remarry; this time to his children's preschool director, Amber. While not all think he is notable, I do. I find him a point of pride and admiration, If not simply for holding his ground and protecting his human right to create his family as he and his spouse saw fit, but to also live his life as he deserves it to be. Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Beattie! May you be blessed with many, many wonderful years together!

When your done reading about him, give the movie MILK with Sean Penn a look. I think it is a great tribute to man making a difference while supporting and bringing up, others around him. At least to me.Before You Scroll Down... |
#8Buck Angel"The Man with a Vagina" |
Buck Angel is the stage name of Jake Miller, an human rights activist/motivational speaker/innovator/producer/etc who transitioned nearly 20 years ago (at 28 years old, courtesy of an enlightened therapist) after suffering through years of bullying, drug and alcohol abuse and (thankfully) failed suicide attempts. He went on to found Buck Angel Entertainment and produced his own line of adult films and further became the first transman to star in all-male adult film, Cirque Noir. Then became a co-star in the first filmed transman with transwoman sex scene. In 2007, he was the first, and only, transman to receive the AVN's Transexual Performer of the Year.
His work in pornography opened the door to education and advocacy.
He is the self-proclaimed "Tranpa" of the transgender community, though not all who know of him are fans he is still a formidable presence among trangender people, allies, and those who wish to be educated.
I must admit I am a bit bias when it comes to Buck Angel. He was the first transgender man I was drawn to (though he identifies as a man and not transgender). His advocacy and passion were the strongest draws for me. To hear a man, not just any man but one who has already been down the path I am walking, speak so passionately and honestly about something I feel so dearly about (though I didn't truly realize what I felt until I was ready to face it). Buck Angel helped me accept my truth and through listening to his speeches, talks, podcasts and morning online sessions.
Whether you like him or not, know this, I hold him as my Transpa and no matter your views I will respect your opinion, but you must respect mine. If you can't, well, fuck off and educate yourself.
On a scale of 1-10...hard 8. (I told you, I'm bias. Love me some Tranpa!!)

I actually came across this gentleman not too long ago. I was watching a Buck Angel video ("Sexing the Transman") and Mr. Harvie shared some of his personal experiences. I also found him quite amusing so this charged me up to find out more about him. Here's a few bulletpoints...
* New England born and raised (Maine, 1968)
* Came out to his parents twice (once to admit liking girls and then next to add on he's a man) - check out his website (here).
* A short time (4 yrs +/-) after beginning his comedy career he moved to LA. By the end of the year, he became the opening act for Margaret Cho (here). Soon to be followed by headlining his own comedy tour.
* Thus began his career as an actor, on shows suck as Young & Hungry, Mistresses and Transparent.
* This past summer he returned to theater in an off Broadway production of "Log Cabin"

"We have to be visible. We should not be ashamed of who we are. We have to show the world we are numerous. There are many of us out there."
After being orphaned by her mother's suicide, she was raised by her grandmother until age 10 when she ran away from her grandmother's disapproval at her femininity and use of makeup. Living on the streets, she found a local community of drag queens who gave her her name.
Being friends with Marsha P. Johnson (see previous blog post), she also aligned with identfying as a drag queen, civil rights activism, the antiwar movement (Vietnam), the second wave feminism movement, gay liberation and transgender activism. She was a founding member of GLF (Gay Liberation Front) and Gay Activists Alliance, while co-founding STAR (Street Transvestite Activism Revolutionaries), and organization dedicated to helping homeless young drag queens and trans women of color.
She also fought for the Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Action (NY), which prohibits discrimination on sexual orientation in emplyment, housing, public accommodation, education, credit and the exercise of civil rights.
The "Syliva Rivera Law Project" is dedicated "to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expresssion, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence."

A gay liberation activist, model (click here), gay rigts advocate, drag performer (self proclaimed "drag queen"), mental illness warrior, original member of Gay LIberation Front (GLF), founding member of STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries), a central figure in the Stonewall Inn riots and lovingly called the "Mayor of Christopher Street".
In the Summer of 1992, her body was found on the shore of the Hudson River. The police (with little investigation) dubbeed her death a suicide; her family and friends were not convinced, but no other informaiton has been brought forward to date.
Netflix is running a movie of her life (at least, for now) called, "The Death and LIfe of Marsha P. Johnson."

The story behind this young lost life is heartbreaking while still empowering.
This life lost gave way to judicial precedence and luxury of life for many more to come. The true sorrow is the young men who not only took this life also took others that same fated night, but sit in a state paid box still breathing and enjoying what little plesures they may create for themselves.
Though one man is on death row the other will rot away learning and continuing on even in an incarcerated state. That luxury is not available to the others because of the selfish and insecure spirits of those criminials. May they live very, very, very long existences.

I have spent quite a few years writing short stories that never quite fit into the 'normal' genre. When I came across the different erotica genres I was overjoyed. I had found my writing family. I hope that everyone enjoys what I've written. Please feel free to send me a comment/suggestion good/bad/indifferent. I appreciate all feedback! Bright Blessings!
